Some days I see so much suffering and pain.

Some days I see so much hope and compassion.

As I sit here in my West Hartford area yoga studio, bathed in the waning light of a magnificent “winter” sky (quotes because it’s nearly 50 degrees in Connecticut in December), I know deep in my heart that when I focus on the good, the love, the hope, and the kindness, the strength of others traveling a more difficult road gives me perspective.

Gratitude enters my heart for all of the many blessings in my life and I long for all beings to find peace.

As the winter solstice and the holidays are upon us and there is tremendous suffering around, I ask that you choose to see the hope and the everyday miracles in the simple things.

Surround yourself with the people that matter, tell them how much you care, embrace them with grace and allow love to guide your actions. Ask yourself what is really important.

Choose to focus on the good and spread compassion, kindness, joy and peace to all beings, including the stranger that cut you off in traffic or even the friend that broke your heart.

By shifting your perspective, you invite in a miracle, attract more good and build a world full of peace, hope and love.

Start living the life you want today. The choice is yours; it always has been.
